(In this review I will do without rigid structuring, because in this case it is not worth it)
Russian game developers are traditionally unlucky. There are several reasons for this and it makes no sense to analyze them in this review, but the fact remains that something really worthwhile comes out on the Russian gaming industry market extremely rarely, and mainly on holidays.
The more interesting it becomes to follow the dark horses. Newbies who one day leak a teaser of a project that is impossible to characterize.
Just such a case happened to a studio with a self-explanatory name Dog.
People whose existence you didn’t even suspect a week ago have suddenly appeared in the open spaces like this, suddenly and without warning Steam and stated that they were creating, no less, “A cruel and uncompromising story where you will hack and shoot your way through crowds of enemies” – a game Redeemer.
And they didn’t deceive..

The plot of the game is supplied strictly “optional” through a local glossary. In it, dryly and, as a rule, in three lines, all the motivations of the main character, characters, of which there is ONE, and locations are explained. There are often situations when you can simply ignore all this by yourself.
For developers, the story and script are clearly not the main fundamental part of the Beat ’em Up genre. You won’t find any interesting videos or inserts here. At all.
“But beat’em up is endless action, hurricane gameplay and a bloodbath of pixels,” you will say, and you will be partly right. But “Dog” missed this part too..
Fundamental problem Redeemer – uneven difficulty. In a cube with one type of weapon for the first half of the game, a truly grandiose spectacle awaits you. And in general, the game can be called underdeveloped, in all aspects.

The combat system feels cool, but only half works.
Surrounding finishing moves only work when you can, and you won’t always be able to, get close to the enemy from the right point. What makes it even more insanity is that finishing moves, which, by the way, were actively promoted, simply don’t work from other points.
The result of this is a drop in dynamics. For example, you wanted to execute an enemy with a special kill, because with their help you can replenish your health bar, but the chance that everything will go according to plan is extremely small and you can easily go to the nearest chickpoint.
The game has very few mechanics and how such content. There is no point and combo system. This gives the motivation to give the enemies the same "bloodbath", gets lost. No one encourages your imagination and rewards you for various ways to deal with local AI.
An artificial idiot often wins with numbers rather than with skill, plus a whole bunch of small bugs come to the rescue in the fight against the player. If you die immediately after loading a level, don’t be surprised – this is a common case for Redeemer. (Possibly fixed. Completed the game before the patches)

The animation is choppy, which is strange https://giocasemprecasino.co.uk/ considering the sparse graphics and caricatured models of the main character and enemies, even despite the use of a modern engine Unreal Engine behind number four.
What’s even stranger is that due to a large number of enemies per square centimeter of location, the game begins to slow down and lag on any PC.
Perhaps the last straw for you will be the fact that upon death, the brave Vasily will be deprived of all previously raised weapons, and given the not-so-friendly save system, it will take quite a long time to get to the nearest cannon.

Bottom line
Redeemer definitely has its share of fresh ideas, the developers know exactly how to revive the beat ’em up genre, but even the basic elements for this genre in the game are implemented very poorly.
Before you think about buying a game, just ask yourself when was the last time you saw a game of this genre that was slow on fairly modern hardware.

Look what the idea is.
I noted a potentially interesting combat system. Imagine taking a pinch Hotline Miami, added a deliberately Batman parry (series Arkham) and multiplied by the increased number of enemies. Sounds interesting? For me, yes. That’s why I posted this as a plus.
And the problem is this. The game has a lot of different attacks and combat animations in general, but the player is not encouraged to use them in any way. No rewards for a long and beautiful combo, no rating system or anything else. You can complete the entire game with the banal “Hit + Roll”.
The game, potentially, has a good idea, but its implementation is a classic Russian maybe.

I Psucker studied at schoolTOole, so if you find a spelling or punctuation error, please indicate it in the comments. I will fix it as soon as possible.

I kind of understood that, but the phrase: “all the fundamental elements of Beat ’em up are scrapped here” confused me a little.

Please write the word correctly checkpoint.Even in the video review (in the text review, for some reason this is not there), when characterizing the main character, I quote: “… He’s also a killer, and also an assassin.”.Personally, for me, an assassin is a killer, although perhaps my perception is different.Well, since I decided to write an opinion, I’ll probably mention the review itself.Phrases flashed that slightly contradicted each other, “there is no system of points and combos, a rather interesting combat system and a trick with finishing moves, all the fundamental elements of Beat ’em up are thrown into disrepair here”.And the combat system is added to the advantages of the game (in the video review).
